I have just been trying to re-route the HT leads according to the wiring diagram.

There are two separate drawings showing the routing which are 74-00-00 page 29 and page 40 in the heavy maintenance manual.

I have been crying laughing at these drawings.

coil bottom 1/2 is top 3/4
coil bottom 3/4 is top 1/2
coil top 1/2 is bottom 3/4
coil top 3/4 is bottom 1/2

They are both dated 01/02/15 and show completely different routing for the ignition coils and HT routing.

If you look at the wiring on both plugs they contradict themselves.

Module A circuit HT coil socket is marked up 3/4T instead of 3/4B for both bl and ws wires,
Module B circuit HT coil socket is marked up 3/4B instead of 3/4T for both bl and ws wires.

Module A and B "socket" that connects to the pick up wire "plug" has contradicting wiring connections.

On one diagram it says wire bl/ge from A3/4 pickup connects to wire w/s, and then the diagram next to it says wire bl/ge from A3/4 pick up connects to wire either bl or gr.

The same applies to all 8 pick up wires.

Not good and very confusing on something so simple and important.

This is the only wiring on the engine. Both plugs on the ignition modules are wrong and the layout of the coils is completely different depending on which schematic you use.

Come on Rotax, this is disgusting.

I hope someone has checked the 912is wiring

Your post would be far more valuable it pointed out the "many obvious mistakes."

Would you want to wire 2 new ignition modules up the wrong way?

    Thanks for the clarification.

    Mark,

Just my two cents here, but you're comparing an electrical schematic with an exploded view. The schematic is designed for troubleshooting and understanding electrical connections, where the exploded view gives a reference on how parts are assembled.

You should stick to the schematic and follow that for your electrical connections and don't even bother with the exploded view until you are ready to bolt it all back together.

Perhaps the schematic was updated after the exploded view and since you shouldn't use the exploded view to determine proper electrical connections Rotax didn't bother to update it.

    I hope that helps,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin

Thanks for that, but the main point is the wiring diagram is wrong on so many points.

I understand that most people on here won't understand how to read the diagram, and that is probably why it has been wrong for so long.

I'm not sure if Rob or Roger can see all the mistakes.

Lets see if Rotax update the Wiring diagram.

    Mark
