Try shutting off your fuel at cruise power. Should only take a minute and won't hurt your engine.

    What do you think Roger?

Prop is not going to stop as fast as being on the ground. It has air flow through it and depending on your speed it could keep windmilling. At a 100 mph it will keep turning. What is your air speed when you turn off the engine? This is important and can the prop be feathered?

Air speed is 30 or so knots. Raise nose 30 degrees or so. I have been flying this plane for 3 years and shutting down to soar. This just started happening. I am beginning to think that I need to readjust idle down or something. This is a very light prop. Can't weigh more than 5 or 6 lbs. so when I shut down centrifugal force should not be big factor. Thanks to all who have responded but still looking for a solution.

I slow down to 30 knots just as I have for 3 years. This just started a month ago.

Is this repeatable on the ground?
