The bowl is most common and can be deceiving if prop wash is blowing on it.
Other places to look. Make sure the vent tube on the upper part of the carb is on and secure. Make sure that the couple of small ball bearing plugs done during the carbs Mfg are sealed with epoxy and someone did not scrub this off during a cleaning.
Could it be coming out a shaft area. Not very likely, but I guess not impossible if the carbs have some years on them and an "O" ring split..I personally haven't seen this, but it's worth keeping an open mind.

Last, but not least it still could be just a bowl gasket new or not. Most of us use a fiber gasket that we get from the service centers even though the carbs come with cork. I haven't had any issues with the fiber ones.

Crazy thing never a leakage problem till they just got rebuilt by Lockwood. I think it looks to be coming from the shaft but as it's only leaking at high power settings I'm going to move it across town to a Rotax machanic to check what I hope is an exhaust valve leak giving me low cyl diff pressure. He will be able to rebuild the carb a second time as the shaft is a bit tricky to get apart without spare parts for the butterfly valve. I may remove the holder just to check that the outside oring did not get forgotten but would think a leak would be the internal oring as the outside one seems to have little ability to hold a pressure seal.

This is an interesting thread to read. I just returned from Sebring. I had then rebuild my carbs. for my 914 while I was taking the engine maintenance training. I am a couple of hours of checks and rechecks away from restarting the engine for the first time since they were rebuilt. I did talk with the tech who rebuilt them while I was at Lockwood and the two items that came up both in my discussion with him and reiterated in the class have been mentioned here. If the bowl had been over torqued I think they would have caught that since they caught it on my two. Kerry, the tech that worked on mine, straightened the float pins and pronounced the carbs good to go, so we shall see. Twice I've heard similar descriptions as here where the issue was indeed a leaking Welch plug. Just rebuilt from Lockwood all the plugs should look shiny like new epoxy had been put on.
