I was going over my Bing carbs on my 80hp and noticed two different sized vent holes? My manual does not mention anything regarding two different sized holes. They are however marked right and left . My issue is long cranking on cold startup and no other issues. The choke did not seem to make any difference when pulled. Any thoughts or comments would be wonderful.

Thanks
Chris

Don't think of it as left or right. See attachment, (L) is for Carb for cylinders 1/3, (R) is for Carb for cylinders 2/4

While your looking at these make sure the small center punch mark on the outside end of the choke shaft is facing to what looks like a small pipe coming out the choke body.

someone has drilled out the hole or you have a miss-match of carbs (and or choke disc valve.
In 2004 the hole was enlarged to 1.0mm. Prior to 2004 the hole was 0.65mm

Thanks everyone for the info! On further investigation looks like someone installed the choke housing on the wrong sides. Also thanks for the PDF. Nice to look at and informative. Once the new gaskets show up I look forward to firing this back up to see the difference.

Just a follow up on my issue of long cranking on cold startup. I matched up the bleed hole that was undersized with a drill bit and re assembled the carbs the proper way then rotated the choke levers. Fired right up in cold temperatures. Fixed my issue. Sure makes me a happy camper!
