    I agree!

I used 648 and had to actively seek and order it for these coolant tubes specifically, when I had to change or move the tubes in the past.

This conversation made me look into the current Heavy Maintenance manual to see what they call for, they say to use loctite 643 in the current manual. So what the ?
On a side note, I used to be able to find loctite , lube, etc info in the illustrated parts manual, but the new one does not have that info. ?

Ok, I took about 8 months off because I just didn't have the desire to fight with this little plane anymore. Im back and I'm better now. No whining, just winning. I fixed the engine frame so the motor is mounted to the frame. I am ordering some 17mm hose and getting some springs for a tight bend and I am back at it. I will loctite 648 the water inlet tubes on the top of the cylinders that I have removed and I am considering swapping the straight tubes from the water pump on my old engine to give me a larger radius curve in the hose to avoid kinks. It appears that, that minor mod will keep me from disturbing the factory angle of the cylinder elbows on the bottom of the engine. I just think heating it to soften the 648 there is a dicey move considering the push rod o rings are in that area. Yes, they see heat during operation, but I just think the less I change the better. My main objective is to relieve pressure on fittings and hoses from excessive bend angles. I never want to see a leak here but I sure don't want to cause one if I can prevent it before install. I"ll take pics tomorrow and show the progress. I am publicly declaring a 45 day window on the install and test flight. so ... counting to April 25 at noon as the deadline. Anything before that is gravy. Lots to do. Wish me luck.
And KMach, ...I'm with you little brother.

I took off the water pump housing to remove the elbows that are clocked wrong for my installation. I can't get the one out that is in the upper right corner of the pic. It turned about 90 degrees and just got stuck. I have heated it with a heat gun to 200 degrees and it just won't come out. it Has to come out so I can clean it and reinstall it at the proper angle. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is already galled and I'll be buying something.

I used a wooden dowel inside the fitting to turn it while it was hot. But I have broken three of those now. I don't want to damage the housing or the tube. Any ideas?

    Jay White,
Long time since we've talked. Hope things are going well.

Soak it over night in alcohol and then the next day try heating it up again and just work it back and forth. Hopefully it's just the threads with crud in them and hopefully it isn't stripped.
