I have a 912ULS (built 2006) fitted to a P and M GT450 trike. The engine serial number is 5646615. The serial number on the gearbox housing is very faint and unreadable due to surface corrosion. I need to know because the engine number is listed on SB-912-056-UL as an affected engine. The engine has done 360 hours. There is no apparent galling on the gear set but I guess a Mandatory SB is a Mandatory SB. My question is ... Is it possible to find out the gearbox serial number that was originally shipped with this engine?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes, that information is in the factory records for your engine.

Originally, 5646615 came equipped with gearbox part number 887703, having gearbox serial number 32246.
(Of course, unless you have the complete service records, there no guarantee that you still have the original gearbox.)

    Incidentally, 5646615 is a ROTAX 912 ULS produced 15-May-2006.
    Original factory configuration:
    without fuel lines
    UL2 I=2,43 with clutch
    without vacuum pump
    with green valve covers
    without mech. tachom. pick up
    without external generator
    without air guide baffle
    with FLY-DAT connection
with nipple conn. for oil pump
    with expansion tank
    without air box
    without engine truss
    starter standard

Similarly, I have an old 912UL (s/n 4152939) - (that has been upgraded to the 912 Xtra 95 hp version) - with a gearbox s/n 10193. I'd like to know what model of gearbox this is (A. B or C version) and what the gear ratio is 2.27:1 or 2.43:1. Thanks for a great, informative forum.

    4152939 is a ROTAX 912 UL produced 18-Aug-1994.
This engine (and most other engines more than twenty years old!) has no original configuration records in the factory database, and we are not able to determine what was its original gearbox.

We have no records of any gearbox with the serial number 10193. Can you see a six digit part number on the gearbox? The gearset inside may have been changed, but if the gearset's own serial number is recorded in the database, we could tell you the ratio. In any event, you can determine the gear ratio by counting the teeth... Hi, I have an 582 engine model 99 with the original invoice showing it was purchased by the previous owner with a C gear box from a U.S. distributor. Apparently, the gear box was damaged in shipment and it was replaced by a new box with unfamiliar numbers/letters scratched into the gearbox surface.

Can you tell me anything about the C-box and motor?
    Thank you,
    JMB

    Engine Ser. No.: 678999
    Type C gear box: "c-300 s/n 10-9999" and "KF 74"
