I've been having oil pressure fluctuations lately so I decided to install a new sender VDO it turned out not being compatible with my guage so I ordered a new guage from aircraft spruce aviasport IM-572 when I turn the master on guage goes all the way up to max this I'm told is normal when I start the engine it stays at max so took everything out and replaced with the old one am I doing something wrong in the instal only positive negative and sender wire i'm thinking bad sender any ideas

There are very different senders available. Particularly mind the way they function.
The good old VDO sender basically delivers a resistance which changes over pressure. A gauge must obviously work with that resistance as input and the bandwidth of the sender.
Other senders deliver voltage or even a digital signal. And those won't work with resistance-based gauges. Quite the same way a gauge expecting voltage will fail if resistance comes through.
What gauge did you have installed originally and what senders (exactly) have you tried? Knowing that would help troubleshooting.

I'd like to suggest you check the basic functionality of both gauge and sender to start with.
This seems to be a very helpful document:

Also check the wiring according to the datasheet referenced.
    Good luck!
