Running both fuel pumps on 914

Most POH's I've seen include using the second pump for takeoff and landing, but to turn off during cruise. My question is, other than preserving the pump, is there any reason not to run the pump all of the time? I fly an AutoGyro and we're often at lower altitudes, so I have a concern that if the primary pump failed, you wouldn't have much time to get the second on and the engine restarted.
