I have a 912ULS on a VANS RV-12 that is approaching 600 hours where Rotax indicates its time for an inspection of the overload clutch. A&P is recommending removal of the gearbox to send out for inspection of the overload clutch and other components.

Just curious how others have addressed the Overload Clutch Inspection requirement (we're running primarily on 100LL) and what other inspections might be recommended...

Using 100LL the 600 hr.inspection is the right time. Somewhere around 800ish hrs. the clutch will become inop because of the lead. You'll never know. The clutch needs to be removed and taken apart which takes some special tools and why we all send them to service centers if a clutch needs to be stripped down and the lead cleaned out.

Not much good about 100LL. Good for high altitudes and long term storage vs 91 oct.
