We are having difficulty commissioning a “new old stock” 914 of 1997 vintage and unable to achieve normal full power manifold pressure & rpm. The engine came with an old model (966470) TCU and at 115% throttle we only achieved around 33” MP and 5300rpm. Unable to obtain the dongle to allow connection of a laptop running 4.6 TLR software we swapped to a newer TCU (966741) with later (longer) air-box temperature probe. Having connected the laptop we saw that full throttle only showed as 107% so thought a calibration would fix our problem, but alas no.
At full throttle we still see only 33”MP and 5300rpm – looking at the TCU logs shows that rpm & airbox pressure match what the cockpit gauges say. Airbox temp (42deg) and ambient pressure appear normal and the airbox set point is 1370Mb (40.5”). The servo position is 100% so the TCU has shut the wastegate completely in order to try and reach the setpoint pressure, but this has not been achieved.
Any ideas, as we are out of them !?
Thanks, Mark
