I have a 92 rotas 912 ul with a older style oil tank. I've watched the videos explaining how to change the oil but the tank I have is in a diffrent spot. Its located up against the firewall on the top of the engine. The bottom of the tank where the drain screw is is blocked. Is the another way to change out the oil?

At the moment it almost seems I have to remove the tank to drain it.

In those situations where the drain is inaccessible many do just remove the fittings off the tank and remove the tank and dump it. Don't allow the oil lines to hang down and loose all their oil. It will probably give you the best tank flush. This usually isn't a hard job.

Ok thanks for the info roger!

Also idk if you remember but I called you about engine temps and oil coolers a few months backs. Just wanted to say it all worked out great and I'm flying fine! Thanks for all the help.

Some Kitfox 4 guys , take the top of the oil tank off and use an oil suction gun to remove the old oil.

Savage Cub with the drain plug right over top of the muffler. Ditto above, the top of the tank can be removed allowing sucking out the oil but the tank itself can't be removed from the firewall, at least not in under a day with a very flexible person (not me) to go upside down, under the panel, to hold the nuts. I make sure the oil does not drain out of the hoses plus my tank gets cleaned at every change. For this plane much easier than contriving some remote drain system.

Ditto, I take the top lid off and use a suction gun. I like to inspect and clean the tank at each oil change.
