Has anyone converted a 914 UL with a constant speed hydraulicly controlled prop to an Airmaster electrically controlled prop? We have run into a couple of challenges and lots of questions. I'll spare the Forum the gory details for now, but Airmaster hasn't done this conversion.

    Yes, It is a fair amount of work. see SI-914-032 for some guidance.
    a hydraulic c/s is much better/faster to react, why go electric?

    The aircraft owner thought it might be a good idea. This is a rebuild of an accident aircraft and the original C/S prop was destroyed in the accident. However, after my extensive research and finding out that yes the conversion would indeed be a "fair amount of work" the owner is moving back towards a hydraulic C/S prop.

    Any comments on 914 performance difference after changing from fixed pitch to constant speed prop? Any numbers on speed, climb rate, etc?

    A CS prop vs a fixed pitch on the 914 is night and day. A ground adjustable prop is a waste on the 914.

    Very well said. I totally agree, and it is a shame that the LSA rules prevent a CS prop. Maybe the FAA was worried about the complexity of hydraulic props, but with today's electrically controlled props there should be no issues.

    I have this quote from Airmaster (It looks like the total hardware cost will be around $8,300) and I was wondering if you could recommend the best shop to do the install, preferably in Florida or the Southeast.
