I recently put a IVO IFA on my older rotax 912 UL. I was wondering how common or necessary it is to put a MP gauge on my plane with an adjustable prop.

If I do place MP gauge on my plane I was planning on just going in through the compensator tube. I have the older version so I would have to figure out how to get a nipple off of it. Or just T right off the nipple on one of the carburetors.

The other option is to cut my tube in half and use hose to bridge it with a T.

Any MP gauges that are recommended?

***CAUTION: Manifold Absolute pressure gauge must be fitted to aircraft with variable or constant speed propellers.[/quote]

It is not only a requirement, it is a good idea.
Without the gauge, you are just guessing on how the Prop Pitch is set.

Interesting the directions state to just pitch it to best cruise and go with it. Means you might be lugging it and not even knowing it. I'll be investing in a MP gauge.

Is trading out my compensator tube for a rubber hose of the same diameter ok? Would make adding in a T much easier to attach MP.

You could Redneck it and probably be ok.
Or for $106 you could replace it with the modern version (924541) with the fitting that has the MP port already in place.
Decide on which option will let you sleep better.

    So dont redneck it.

Do you have a recomend gauge you like for Manifold Pressure in rotax 912s?

    Electric vs mechanical?

I would use whatever Brand and style of gauge you already have in the panel.
You likely have an unused 2-1/4" panel hole.
Just find a gauge that fits the hole and looks nice with the rest of the panel.

You do not have a Turbo so a 0-35" MAP gauge will be preferred over a 0-50" Boost gauge.
The Purely mechanical gauge selections are few.
If you go electronic remember that the Gauge and the Sender are sometimes integrated and sometimes sold separately.
    Heads Up!
