As the subject says, the threads of the plug screw have stripped. We had just completed checking the friction torque - nothing unusual occurred during that process. When we attempted to reinsert the M8x20 plug screw the threads stripped well before the 133 in-lb torque setting. I routinely start torquing initially well below the final value, in this case I started at 100 in-lbs and it stripped at what I would guess at about 80-90 in-lbs.

In any case, the threads all came out cleanly wrapped around plug screw. The stripped out threads appear totally complete so I don't think anything fell inside when the threads stripped.

Does anyone have any idea how to proceed with this? This is an open hole into the crankshaft area so I don't think a helicoil would work because the tang has to be broken off and there's no way to catch it after snapping off. I ran across something called Keylocking Thread Inserts. They look like they might work but I have no experience with them. Any other ideas?
