914F Valve springs

Hello
I am currently disassembling a cylinder head for an 914F engine for overhaul, i noticed that on both of the valve springs (intake & exhaust) there is a paint mark on half of their height.
I was told that the paint color indicates the force of the spring and that it is important to place all the valve springs in the engine in the same direction (orientation) - color mark facing up or down.
I tried to verify this in the MMH but there is no information about the paint mark.
Does anyone have information and can elaborate on this subject?
