I am not getting a RPM Drop when doing the engine run up on the left side mag check. And on one occasion the engine would not shut down when the ignition was switched off.

Anyone have a solution to this.

UpDate to no RPM drop on left mag. Turns out it was the SMD module. Replaced it now it is running normal again. :-)

Thank you to those who tried to help with your responses to my engine problem.

On my RV-12 (912 ULS) I had similar symptoms.  Turned out to be an intermittently failing "Mag" switch.  Replaced the switch and all is well -- simple and cheap.  If your switch tests OK it could be an intermittent wiring issue.

I had exactly the same symptoms; it turned out to be a broken ground wire from the ignition module to the "mag" switch. In other words, one ignition was always ON.

I've had this twice on a 912UL. Unfortuntely it turned out to be the SMD ignition module. On the last one, if I unplugged the module and measured resistance between the kill switch input and the ground terminal I had an intermittent reading of about 300 ohms when I squeezed the case or heated it with a hot air gun showing a bad connection internally. 300 ohms is good, high resistance is bad.
