Oil Tank Leak

Looks normal to me, maybe the quick drain has a worn/hardened/old o-ring seal problem or most likely the oil is coming from the tank vent line. That is how the crankcase is vented after the oil is pushed back to the tank. A small amount of oil out of the vent line is normal after 17 hours.

Older tanks have that bottom fitting crimped on. If care isn't taken to fully hold the fitting when removing and tightening the drain plug, or installing the quick drain fitting, the crimp can loosen. Newer tanks have that drain fitting welded on. Ask me how I know. :-(

 Alan, Did you have to buy a new tank or were you able to successfully get it welded?

Expert welder welded it but the extremely thin tank started some tiny cracks/leaks. Had to buy new tank.
