Float hight

Hi All, I am replacing the brass arms and the pivot pins in my 912 ull carbs, how do I go about setting up the correct fuel level hight, when removing the float bowl in the past fuel comes out of the need valve as the bowl is lowered because of the fuel in the fuel line,making it impossible to get the correct level.
