912 ULS Low OIL Temperature
I'm concerned about the low OT of my 912ULS. Please see the attached email that contains a table covering over 40 minutes of run time and the OT only got to around 93 degrees F.

I had the same issues on my S-19 Larry. I cut a 1" wide strip of aluminum tape and placed it over the upper part of the oil cooler- this helped tremendously. We were out flying in 32F temps this past weekend and oil temps returned to normal.

Thanks for reply. Now I know I'm not the only one. I do have almost 1/3 of radiator covered with aluminum tape.
Maybe my issue is just tied down to having the cowlings removed.
I can't fly yet because all the panel work is not complete.

I have an older 912UL and am experiencing low oil temps, too, and that was while flying in 55 degree OAT about 2 weeks ago. I flew the pattern a few times and was only seeing 72 degrees so I put the S-12 back in the hangar. I can't believe it could be that cold inside a running motor so I am exploring another method.
Before I try the aluminum tape (which was discussed on this forum by Roger Lee about 4 or 5 years ago), I am waiting for a new sensor to arrive so I can install it. I know it is generally bogus to chase a problem by buying new parts but I have checked the connections and the instrument and it could be a bad sensor.
I don't want to take the chance of overheating the oil by covering up the radiator until I am pretty sure my temp readings are correct.
So that's my story and the path I am taking to deal with this issue.

I installed the Thermostasis oil temperature control and it works perfect.

Thanks Garrett. I've been looking at that.
