I want to install a Facet pump in my Zenith 701/ Rotax 912S. I have a used one out of an Avid Mark IV with the 912 UL. It is rated at 3.5 to 4.0 PSI / No check valve.

I don't plan to run the Facet pump during flight. I will use it during initial start up to prime the system.

What Facet would you guys recommend for this application.

Would you buy one with the check valve installed?

Thank you for any input you might provide.

Thank you

Vance

The choice is mostly up to you.

With a high-wing A/C you will not need more than 4 psi and a check valve will not be needed but also will not hurt.

Install it below the fuel tanks in a cool location, preferably not in the engine compartment; But if you must, mount it as low as possible.

It is a good idea to operate the pump whenever below pattern altitude or if you even suspect a vapor lock condition.

    Vance,

It will work fine, that’s the pump I am using in my 701. Following the diagram in the Operator’s Manual, I installed it downstream of a fine filter on the fwd fuselage floor with a bypass circuit should the pump fail in a manner that blocks the fuel flow. Echoing Bill’s advice and per the manual I’ve got a one-way check valve in the bypass circuit. Personally I consider a fuel pressure gauge a required item, and I fly with the electric pump operating for every takeoff and landing.
