If you are questioning the internal cleanliness of the engine, it would be a relatively simple matter to remove a valve cover and have a look.
The Oil flow is relatively slow in the extremities allowing for a greater chance for the crud to settle.
If the Valve Cover and Rocker Arms look clean, the crankcase is probably cleaner.
