i recently purchased a zenith 701 with a Rotax 914 turbo.  it was built in 2003 and has 50 hours total time.  i just started it the other day and yesterday noticed that the yellow tsu warning light blinks while the engine is running.  I did find that the cable to the wastegate was not adjusted properly and corrected that but no change.  Looking through the manual i found that the tcu should cycle and do a self test, but it doesn't.  Any help would be appreciated.  i am a new plane/Rotax owner, have lots of experience working on cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, small engines.

The first place to inspect would be the internals of the Wastegate Servo Motor.

It may be seized up.  Corrosion has been known to be an issue on Hangar Queens!

Does the servo motor try to cycle the wastegate when power is applied to the TCU, or does nothing at all happen at the servo motor? If nothing at all happens, it is possible that the TCU has failed. If it tries to cycle the wastegate but cannot, then something might be binding.

Thanks for the replies.  I know that the problem is not the cable nor the wastegate as I just adjusted the cable and it moved the wastegate control arm easily.  Sounds like I need to take apart the servo and see if it’s frozen as it doesn’t move when the tcu is switched on.

    Hi

If you have a blinking yellow  warning light you  have a sensor or wiring Shaffer problem

I have just gone through this sager and found that I had a small amount of corrosion on the air box sensor plug

I sprayed it out and cleaned it and all good now

I had to connect the laptop to the TCU to locate which sensor was giving me the problem

I then went and removed them all cleaned all just to be sure

Mark, his servo doesn't move when he powers up the ECU. Does a failed sensor cause the servo to not move?
