I share a 10yr old Piper Sport with less than 400hrs. I understand that if it has ‘’soft start’ then it’s starter module will have a ‘Yellow’ as apposed to a ‘Green’ label across the top.
is this correct ?

That is correct.
It's also pretty easy to tell just by how it starts!

Look up the part # on Lockwoods or CPS website. Like Tyler said you can hear, see and feel the difference on start if you have properly functioning modules try switch.hat are wired in correctly there is 4 second delay after starting(it picks up speed and runs smoother). I know of a few installations were the mechanic never wired them into the start switch and the oft start functioned not work.

Thanks for that. So this photograph depicting a Green label indicates that this Sport Cruiser does NOT have Soft Start?

The Cover-All Answer
If you have Original Rotax Modules and...
IF the modules have Two 6-pin connectors, there will be VIOLET Wires connecting the modules to the Starter Solenoid.
These are the sensor wires for your Soft-Start Circuit.
IF the modules have any 4-Pin Connectors: No Soft-Start.
- - -
If one or both modules are NOT Original Rotax Modules...
and IF one or Both Modules have a wire connecting to the Starter Solenoid; You HAVE Soft-Start.
If Only One module is Soft-Start; you will want to start ONLY on that module. Single-MAG Start.
- - -
If you have THREE Modules; the third module is likely an after market Soft-Start Module and again a Single-MAG Start is indicated.
