I don't think it makes much difference, really... If you do it post flight, you'll still want to look in the tank pre flight and make sure enough oil is still there :)

I'm with Tyler. Either before or after. They both work. Perrsonally I prefer before so I feel confident the oil is there before I take off.

Agreed.
I always consider the oil check as a 'Preflight' item.
Surely if OK on post flight, unless there is an oil deposit on the deck or in the cowling prior to next flight, should be good to go!
