The previous torque for the 912 UL plugs was 180 in lbs. on a cold engine.

The January 2020 Rotax maintenance manual (12-20-00) page 59 now says 142 in. lbs. on a cold engine.

Which is correct?

I HAVE TO LOOK IT UP AND I AM SURE NEW TORQUE IS ON LINE.

WELL YOU HAVE TO DO A LITTLE THINKING HERE.. THIS 180 BIG NUMBER AND 142 IS INCH POUNDS. IF YOU DIVIDE BOTH NUMBER BY 12 YOU GET A DIFERENCE OF A LITTLE 3 POUNDS BETWEEN THE TWO.

YOU HAVE TO USE AN INCH POUND TORQUE WRENCH.  FOOT POUND WITH SUCH LOW NUMBERS LIKE 15 POUNDS AND 12 POUNDS NOT ACCURATE UNLESS YOU HAVE A VERY EXPENSIVE DIGITAL ALARM CALIBRATED TORQUE WRENCH.

I THINK BEFORE MAYBE PEOPLE WERE OVERTIGHTENING SO THEY LOWERED IT BY 3 POUNDS SINCE PEOPLE WILL OVERTIGHTEN AND HOPEFULLY THEY WANT GO ABOVE 15 POUNDS OR BEYOND BRAKING SPARK PLUG.

IT'S LIKE SPEED LIMIT ON ROADS LOWER THE NUMBER BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO OVERSPEED ANYWAY. USUALLY YOU WANT GET A TICKET UNLESS YOU ARE 15 OVER.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE HEAT TRANSFER COMPOUND ON THE TREADS VERY LITTLE PEA SIZE. DO NOT USE ANTISEAZE.

HOPEFULLY SOMEONE HAS BOOKS HANDY AND WILL GIVE YOU EXACT NUMBER.

Depends on what spark plugs you have!

If you have the new BRP spark plugs they are 142 in.lbs

If you have the old NGK spark plugs the Tq is 177 in.lbs

Curious.  What is the reason for brand-specific torque?  I think I need to go check mine.
