Does a crankset from a 912ULS 100hp fit in a 912UL 80HP? Seems to be the same part but would like to check.

Anyone? Is it a difficult question? Will a crankset from a 912 ULS fit in  UL?

    Hi Damien

Technically they are the same however dependent on the serial number (production year) some significant differences will be found.  There are at least 3 generations of crankcase and some parts from an older 80 HP may not fit on to a newer version case.  In addition Rotax does not release the overhaul manual to replace the crankcase unless it is an approved facility with trained technicians.

    Cheers

If I were you, and really wanted to know whether it could be used or not, I'd give Hal Stockman (Elko, NV) a call.  (Yep - the same guy who flys "Lawnmower III" in the OSH STOL competitions.)  He probably knows more about rebuilding "frankenstein" Rotax engines than anyone around...
