I wouldn't even try that. That tool, though expensive, is the only way to go, it seems to me.

It can be done with good needle nose pliers.

I've been using small needle nose pliers for 20 years and never an issue.

You guys are clearly better with needle nose pliers than I am. I need to install 4 of these, and couldn't get close to getting 1 installed today. Is there some trick to it that I don't see? I'd love to be able to do this without damaging anything, but right now I'm looking to rent the official tool.
