I have a 912 ULS and recently experienced a very low EGT on my #1 cylinder when at idle. At a run-up at 3800 RPM the EGT went up fairly close to the other cylinders but went back down the same low EGT when I brought the RPMs down again. Upon inspection, both plugs for the #1 cylinder were velvet black (rich mixture) so I checked the plugs in my #3 cylinder to see if it too was running rich and saw that the plugs for it were fine. Any thoughts?

    Need a little more info.

Plugs can get black and dry soot covered if you run very long at low rpms.

What's the gaps on the plugs? How old are the plugs? Have you done a carb sync lately? What maint. has been done lately?

I synched the carbs last spring, I am not sure that it is a carburetor issue since the #3 cylinder's EGT appears to be okay and its plugs are fine. Wouldn't the plugs on both cylinders be black if it was an issue with the carbs? The plugs were changed out less than two years ago.
