As you can see from the picture, the exhaust springs have worn through the hooks on the exhaust.  I purchased new ones and am still a newbie when it comes to TIG welding.  Does anyone have any tips or tricks to removing the old hooks and welding on the new ones?

Use a Dremel cutting wheel to remove old hook and clean off old weld.  You will need to position the new hooks for correct spring stretch.  Not very difficult...

If the exhaust system is in otherwise good condition, you might consider having this done by an aircraft exhaust system shop. You could absolutely get the new pieces welded on, but there is a good chance it will crack the exhaust system as it cools, or later down the road with repeated heat cycles.  When aircraft exhaust system welding is done properly, the inside of the pipe is purged with argon or another inert gas during the welding process. Also, heat control is very important so you don't get hydrogen cracks along the heat affected zone (HAZ) of the weld. I have moderate TIG welding skills, and I weld most things myself, but with exhaust system welding I would take it to a pro.
