    Hi Peter,

Just lost my reply to you - try again.

".......... the temp advantage, despite the less than expected delta, makes a difference. "

Agree! My airbox was delivering ambient temperature air to the carbs (see below). My current minimalist cone air filters are delivering ambient + 15C+ air. There is a noticeable difference in engine performance. Was gettin 147 knots indicated at WOT - now only 140 knots.

"...........better engine performance (and climb) during winter times."

Absolutely! My Sonex took on turbo prop characteristics this past winter😁. Strangely my ATEC Zephyr/912ULS did not have such a dramatic winter performance improvement.

"..........find a way to mount the airbox in a way that it supports the carbs.."

Certainly explore this. Support must move with engine. Previous speculation (firewall mount) won't do.

    Hi Sean,

You might be able to build a support bracket off the bolts that hold the mag cover on using some M6 rubber mounts. I used these to support the Rotec TBI throttle body carb. seemed to be ok using 2 mounts to attach it.

The airbox on my 914 and the fiberglass airbox on my 912s are both supported by a clamp/angle attachment to the ring mount that works well.

Just got the ERROR message & lost all my words. Go again.

    Hi Sam,

"The airbox on my 914 and the fiberglass airbox on my 912s are both supported by a clamp/angle attachment to the ring mount that works well."

All well and good my friend BUT ya gotta have a ring mount to attach the airbox to😀

One day my Sonex may have Ring Mount but thats a long way off. I think Murray (above) may have the immediate solution - I plan to investigate tomorrow.
