My 912UL has a three blade Warp Drive prop mounted as pictured. It runs smoothly.

a machinist friend pointed out that the mounting plate does not have a hole that fits over the male ridge of the gearbox prop shaft for centering. Is this normal for a Warp Drive?

This might seem like a strange question, but I have been working on this Zenith 701 since June 2022 because of things that were not exactly up-to-snuff.

I plan to check with Warp Drive tomorrow (Thursday) if I can.

    Wow that is scary.

The correct WarpDrive hub will fit the engine perfectly as will an airworthy prop extension.  It looks like someone has tried to adapt the wrong hub to the rotax and perhaps add a short prop extension.  The proper hub will self center on the "ridges" of the engine shaft.  So will an airworthy shaft extension.

    Hi Bert,

Bit hard to tell from the photo, however that looks like a warpdrive HPL style hub, it also does not look like the approved mounting or spacer arrangement.

Have attached an image of the HPL hub arrangement from the warpdrive manual on their website.

Agree with Ken, that looks scary!

The hub is correct, but the extension is a lucky put together.

My machinist friend can make a proper extension, but I will check with Warp Drive.

    Thanks for the reinforcement.

Looking at the picture it looks like a crack in the hub.

    Hi Bert,

Your original post with the backing plate mounted that way is so wrong. It's an easy fix just get the correct plate from Warp or someone else.
