Hi everyone, i have a question. I found in ED1_R3 rotax manuel about end of crankshaft plug(screw). And in the another page i found its torque value is 35 N.m but i did not find about ''HOW TO INSTALL AND WHAT IS THE PAY ATTENTION THINGS ABOUT END OF CRANKSHAFT PLUG''. Can someone explain me how to install end of crankshaft and what is the torque value in detail please. Also according to that coming to me information this torque value increased to 45 N.m is that true? If is not true, if i perfom 45 N.m what will happen?

    Hello Ufuk

The picture is not of the crankshaft end plug, those are the fittings for the crankcase lower side.  Two are shown, one is for the UNF fitting the other a metric version.  The end cap of the cranshaft is for a special drive to use with large generators found in some UAV applications.  it was never intended to be removed.  That screw is with Loctite and an extreme value on torque.  Do not remove it.

    Cheers

Rotax Wizard is correct, do NOT remove the crankshaft end plug.

First, Thank you so much but we are using UAV yes. We will do schudule maintenance and in this maintenances we check crankshaft end plug torque value hazet+Torch 60 bit. But I dont know how to remove and install procedures as a fully correct and torque value was 35 but suddenly my company changed to 45 N.m. So do you have any manual or work card for this job?

    Hello Ufuk

First, there is no value for the 912 iS engine that I can find.  There is a value for the 915 iS engine and indeed that value was raised considerably.  Given that this bolt is put in with dry threads if you try to torque it and it moves then you must remove it and reinstall with the correct  and values (915 values are the only ones I can find)

I note that the Rotax manual calls for 150 Nm on this bolt, not 45.  This seems very high to me also.

    Cheers

We have located the bolt torque value in the Rotax 912iS Overhaul Manual. However, regretfully, Rotax enforces stringent controls on the sharing of information from the O/H manual, and we are unable to provide any information or its contents. We apologize and wish we could be of more help on this matter.

We recommend reaching out to your local Rotax distributor to request this information. It will need to be requested through a special process facilitated by them.
