This is what Rotax lists as the different versions of software and short notes on each.

I don't see notes anywhere in those 8 pages that talks about what has been updated in the ECU software for the 912iS.

    Eric,

The way I read this, the 912iS Sport engine has only had one Firmware Version, so technically this SB would not apply. But the SB says that we must verify the firmware version, so that’s what you should do. That only requires a Level 1 BUDS dongle.

I would bet that part of the reason for this SB is “house cleaning” to make sure all engines out there have the correct firmware, and that no engines have been updated improperly or have replaced the ECU with one with the wrong firmware.  Or possibly someone may have upgraded their 912iS to the Sport option (factory kit) and not upgraded the Firmware.  Otherwise, you would think Rotax would have just posted SB’s for engines that needed updates.

    Jeff,

OK, so the reason I can not find any file for updating the 912iS Sport is that there are no new version of the firmware, right?

    Mikael,

Yes, that’s the way I read it, there is no new firmware update for the iS Sport at this time.  That being said, to comply with the SB you should still verify the firmware version.  I’m not sure why, maybe it’s possible we are making sure the factory did not load the wrong version.
