Dongle Download Support/interpretation options
Besides our well known Lockwood Aviation and Leading Edge Airfoils experts, where would someone find an expert at 912iS dongle download analysis?

Paul,
I find this one of the most frustrating aspects of owning a 912iS engine. While it’s true that some codes are intuitive enough to point you in the right direction, it’s also true that there are details in the codes that cannot be interpreted without factory documentation. Why would Rotax not want to educate the folks that are servicing these engines? I’ve been to the maintenance and service classes as well as the LSRM course, and nowhere was this information covered. And yet, downloading and reading the logs is a required element for annual inspections.
There are plenty of us out here that could learn this stuff quickly if we just had some supporting documentation, instead we are forced to learn these codes by trial and error and gather information through tribal knowledge. If Rotax is not going to provide this documentation, there should at least be a defined pathway for having a Rotax factory tech review your fault codes. Garmin does this incredibly well, if you have ever called the G3Xpert tech support line you know what I mean. Comparatively, Rotax is not even in the game.
I have a $300 code reader for my cars that links to a complete library of the codes, together with the five top fixes mechanics have reported for each code. On the other hand I have $2k BUDS dongle with essentially no support except for a couple of overly busy experts who may or may not have time to help you. This is the type of thing that holds people back from buying these technically advances engines, and also holds good mechanics back from wanting to work on them.

Well said, my sentiments EXACTLY. I addressed this in another post from 6 years ago. To add, with ALL the great details in all the operators, maintenance and installation manuals to make sure we do the job right, WHY STILL do we keep the dongle downloads in the dark. Make no sense.
