I'm wondering if the 912iS mounts up in an identical way as the 912UL? Ideally the dimensions when mounted (assuming the mounting points are the same) would be less than or equal to the 912UL. Also, the center of gravity although not as important.

I did download the 912iS installation manual, but it wasn't 100% clear to me. Figured I'd ask here. I've got to assume that Rotax would design it so that the footprint would be the same, but hard to tell.

thanks for any info.

Yes, they use the exact same ring mount.

Thanks. I also need to know if the exhaust ports are in the same position relative to the engine mount and finally that the height and width relative to this is equal to or smaller than the 912UL.

I would assume that Rotax would have designed the new engine this way.

The 'is is a 'ULS with fuel injection added.
It will fit the mounts just fine.
The Cylinders and the Exhaust ports are the same.

The intake manifold is where the major differences are.
The airbox extends maybe an inch higher above the engine than the Carbs did.
The Air intake and Filter are on the Right side just forward of where the carb was.

Mounting the EMS Computer and Especially the Large Fuse Box may be an issue if space is tight.
They are bigger than they appear in photos and drawings.

Thanks Bill. Do you know if I could "relocate" the air intake to the other side via scat tubing The filter would be attached to the filter on the pilot side of the airplane? I would want to avoid modifying the cowling which has the air intake on this side. I've got to assume this would be possible assuming there is room behind and under the old airbox. The computer mounting I wouldn't think would be too much of an issue.

Going from a 912UL to the 912iS also would involve a 20hp increase. Do you know if this requires a different muffler?

Is there is particular reason that you do Not want to just use the air within the cowling?
The new intake is a single Air Filter mounted directly on the throttle body intake.

You would have to either go under the engine or behind the engine.
I believe the Old Air Box was behind the engine mount ring.
The new Airbox lies in front of the Mount ring, so the area above and behind the ring may be free in your installation.

The muffler should not make any difference.
