Re: Aftermarket voltage regulators for 912iS?

Thanks. I still think that I'll look into replacing it with a 3 phase regulator rectifier to save those 400W when I'm not using them. But if I can't find an aftermarket with the right specs or find someone who can design one I'll just have to find some high energy bulb like you say and keep it on.

I have real time temperature sensors on my 2020 vintage 912is voltage regulators and they do not run hotter with light loads. They are not dissipating unused power as heat. I have good airflow through the cowl and typically see temps around 20C above cowl temperature. My normal B gen draw is about 9 amps. So mine are not shunt regulators.

None yet. But I am now considering the voltage regulator for the 915iS C24 (they call it the "AC-DC converter") which takes the three phase AC from the motor and converts it into either 14 or 28 volts depending on the output line (14 would be needed for the engine's internals). That might be a better choice than an aftermarket regulator-rectifier.
