I prefer a direct visible read of fuel remaining levels over gauges and seek a solution to making the gasoline for my 582 powered craft more visible. Any tried and tested answer would be appreciated. (dbl_bfi@yahoo.com).

    Hi Dave

Fuel "dye" is available in many colours.  Just do a google search for fuel dye. The issue with any dye is it will depend on the type of visual fuel line you are using.  The clear lines normally will stain with time with the color you add, the gauge then becomes what you don't want, hard to read.

Google produces a great many options, so is there any particular brand that you have a great deal of confidence in?

    hi Dave

I dont put any dye in.  100LL already has a blue dye.  Most pre-mix fuels will pick up the dye from the oil so another dye will not work.  If you are running oil injection and the auto fuel has no dye perhaps you could add some.  Just be aware that it will stain any sight gauge tube over time.  Perhaps try a few different background colors behind the sight gauge to see if you can increase the contrast between the two, just a random thought.

    Cheers
