110hp takeoff power, 95hp continuous, weighs only 104 lbs! Fuel injected, water-cooled, FADEC, and designed for aircraft. First I've heard about this. I'm well aware of Austro's AE300 and AE330 engines that are used in the Diamond DA40s and DA62s, but I hadn't heard of the AE110R until today. Seems like it's a direct 912iS competitor? Does anyone know more?

Before you get to excited you should know it is a twin rotary engine, not a piston engine.  Their current marketing appears to be for UAV and if they get it certified I am sure that the cost will be more than the 912iS.

In my experience the problem with rotary engines is fuel consumption, it generally is very high compared to piston designs.  Perhaps they will solve that however the inherent design of the rotary is why Mazda stopped using them also.  Norton in the UK used to make them for UAVs, they could never solve the fuel burn problems.  (Norton was a dual rotor with 90 HP decades ago)

    Cheers
