What is this about?
ROTAX® has issued a Service Bulletin for certain 912, 914, 912 i, 915 i, and 916 i engines. A potential defect in the expansion tank could cause coolant leaks, leading to engine overheating and safety risks.
What you need to do:
If you own, operate, distribute, or service ROTAX® 912, 914, 912 i, 915 i, or 916 i engines within the specified serial number range listed in either the certified or non-certified Service Bulletin (SB) documents, or if you have any of the spare parts mentioned in the bulletin, you are required to take action.
- Review the Service Bulletin – Check both the certified and non-certified SB documents to see if your engine or spare parts are affected.
- Verify Engine Serial Numbers and Production Dates – Match your engine’s serial number and production date against the affected engine lists provided in the certified and non-certified SB documents.
- Check for Overhaul Kit Installations – Determine if your engine has had any of the overhaul kits listed in the Service Bulletin installed.
Deadline for Compliance:
- Uninstalled engines/spare parts prior to usage but no later than 31 December 2025.
- If coolant leakage is detected at the required pre-flight check, immediate action should be taken.
- At the next scheduled maintenance or within 25 operating hours (but no later than 1 year from the issuance of the bulletin).
