We have initiated a discussion in this forum to address any questions you may have regarding the information presented in the video and SB.

- Read the Service Bulletins in the attachments - (Only the certified service bulletin contains the affected engine serial numbers!!)
What's This About?
ROTAX has identified a potential manufacturing issue affecting the hardness values of the crankcase and/or gearbox housing materials in certain engines. These components may not meet the required specifications for material hardness, which could lead to reduced component durability and/or potential oil leakage.
How Does This Affect Me?
If you own, operate, or maintain a 912 iS, 915 iS, or 916 iS fuel-injected engine, you may be affected if its serial number (S/N) falls within the ranges listed in the Appendix section of the Certified version of the Service Bulletin (See below)
What Should I Do About It?
- Check Your Engine Serial Number:
Locate your engine’s serial number and verify whether it falls within the affected ranges listed in the Appendix section of the Certified Service Bulletin (See below) (Only the certified service bulletin contains the affected engine serial numbers!!)
- Schedule an Inspection:
Contact your nearest ROTAX Authorized Distributor, Service Center or iRMT to schedule an inspection.
- During the inspection, technicians will measure the hardness values of the crankcase and gearbox housing using specialized tools.
- If any component fails to meet the required hardness specifications, it will need to be replaced.
- Comply with the Service Bulletin Timeline:
Ensure inspections and any necessary replacements are completed as soon as possible or within the compliance deadlines specified in the bulletin.
- Repair Costs and Support:
ROTAX has provisions for potential warranty coverage or cost-sharing for affected parts and labor. Contact your Rotax Distributor or their independent Service center
for further details.
Who Can Perform the Work?
Inspections and any required replacement of affected components must be performed by qualified technicians who meet the following criteria:
- ROTAX Authorized Distributors or their Independent Service Centers.
- Technicians with approved qualifications for ROTAX engines, including those certified for iRMT (Independent ROTAX Maintenance Technician) at Level Line, Heavy, or Type-specific Maintenance.
- Personnel approved by relevant aviation authorities.
- Work performed by unauthorized individuals may void warranty coverage and could lead to non-compliance with the Service Bulletin.
