Hi Scot
the 912ULS has a single phase generator with alternator. This should limit voltage to 13.7 to 14.2 or about that. If you see more voltage than this then it suggests a failure of your ground or regulator in the system. See the maintenance manual heavy for the testing values and wiring suggestions for the charging system.

Scot, just to rephrase that a bit. It is a generator that has AC current that is limited by an external regulator to control the output voltage.
