Roger; You were right on it being a carb problem with the shut down. During the last year numerous times I ran into the "won't shut down" issue. I had it out of service for 10 months doing a condition inspection where I ran into a lot of stuff on the airframe I had to rebuild so it's been awhile since I checked in.

I still had the shutdown issue after the condition inspection and really started to take a close look at the carbs. It appeared to me that there were times that the left carb choke circuit would hang slightly open. I cleaned it up and replace choke cables, splitter, etc. and made sure everything was adjusted, lubricated and it was hitting all the stops. Like magic it was cured! The shutdown is as solid as a rock now with no issues.

OK, so now about the high EGT issues. It is still there and I suspect the left carb choke circuit had been leaking fuel into the left side keeping it cooler. I think I'll start a new thread on this one with all the details and I'll post it under "high EGT" sometime in the next couple of days.

Thanks for your insight on the shut down issues.
