    Hi Edgar,

I don't know where you live, but here in the US you can get in contact with Lockwood, California Power Systems or Leading Edge. CPS has a kit that works for most planes excep you will need to double check the hose lengths against theirs to make sure of the lengths because different aircraft have different mounting setups for the engine.

There are many sources. The ones that come to mind are California Power Systems, Leading edge air foils, and Lockwood aviation.

Be prepared for sticker shock. Rotax 912 5 Year Rubber Replacement Kit under P/N 15-08189. It contains all of the items on the list and retails for $895.00. CPS.

Don't even ask what the labor to remove and replace all the systems that have to be dismantled (assuming you don't do it all yourself) to access all these seals etc.

The cost of the 5 year rubber replacement is NOT insignificant. We've done quite a few and the total bill varies depending on the airframe configuration. The CPS kit mentioned for $895 will probably NOT cover all parts necessary, again depending on the airframe. You should plan on $1000+ for parts.

Labor is the big item. Plan on 24 to 32 man-hours for a 912ULS. The last aircraft in our shop for the 5 year replacement was a 10 year-old AirCam with TWO 912ULS engines. His invoice,out-the-door, was $7000 (both engines) and we discounted (ate) much of the labor - or it would have been higher.

The previous aircraft (REMOS G-3) was out-the-door with 23 hours labor.

    Hi Eric,

Your estimate of the very significant labor cost --- which with the rubber brings this )supposedly needed every five years regardless of hours on the engine or condition examination) up to about $3500.
Seems to me this  HAS to to any reasonable owner raise the question "is the REALLY necessary" .... expecially if the owner believes they might be within, say, 500 hours or 3 years of a rebuilt or engine replacement?

I know of a few 912s over 12 years old that have not had any rubber other than an occassional fuel line or carb gasket replaced and so far there's no indiation they're going to leak, run less than perfectly, let alone fall out of the sky.

What's your, or anyone's, take on the necessity of this "5 year" service and risks of bypassing it?
