Totally agree. But never the less, they should not foul after a few carb syncs ... Will use a special "tube pinch" plier from now.

    Hi Willy,

What caused the fouling? If it was crimped on only the rubber hose, the hose was under 5 years old then what caused it to be a problem? I have never seen one of the balance tube hoses have an issue.

I to prefer to separate the carbs. I usually take the hose off on the left carb and hook up my gauges there. Then I know there are no leaks between the carbs and no crushed hose.

    Hi Roger,
No idea what caused it. The engine (and tube's) are new (jan 2016). I believe It is better to take the hose off. But as I understand, using a plier is standard practice on a rotax. The tube was weakened and even collapsed during flight causing vibrations. Bringing back the throttle to 4000 rpm reduced the vacuum and so the tube resettled and the vibrations disappeared. On ground the engine vibrated between 2500 and 3500. Same vibration you feel during carb sync procedure.

You sure the tube is a stock Rotax rubber hose balance tube? Those will not collapse under operation.

Should be. New engine (140 hrs) ...

    Collapsed due to the damage.
