I just received this notice from our upstream service provider:
Please be advised that we will be performing a scheduled network maintenance
at our Vancouver, Harbour Center facility during the following window:
Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 23:50 PT to Thursday, September 26, 2013, 03:00 PT (Sept. 26, 06:50-10:00 GMT).
This maintenance is required to upgrade the JUNOS version on our distribution router.
This is necessary to accommodate our new 10Gig line cards and enable new features
that will be beneficial for our infrastructure in the future.
This maintenance will be SERVICE IMPACTING.
Due to the distribution router being upgraded twice,
you will experience additional latency or periods of packet loss for up to 5 minutes
while traffic is being failed over to the redundant router and the software upgrade is being performed.
The phrase "additional latency or periods of packet loss for up to 5 minutes" is webtech shorthand for "videos will not stream properly, and your website will be slow or even totally unavailable..."
Please refrain from making forum posts, updating your subscription, or updating your profile information during this service window. Thanks!
