In reference to the owners manual page 4-6, "max permissible exhaust gas temp exceeded":
what is the max permissible temp? I have been searching Rotax publications for that
information with no success.

    The 912iS EGT limit is 950C (1742F)
This information will be included in the next revision of the Operators manual and Installation Manual.
This information is provided to the developers of the engine monitors (EMU) such as Stock Flight Systems, Dynon, Garmin, etc. so it will be displayed on your instrument.

i dont understand how you can have an excessively high EGT, even if you did, it will only ever be Peak EGT.. you will either run rich, or lean of the peak.. its not possible to have a runaway high EGT, as there is only so much heat that will be produced with the perfect air fuel ratio., or better known as Peak EGT.

dont forget, EGT sensor locations have a huge impact on their readings.. right next to the exhaust valve is the highest it will ever get.. the thurther away from the valve, the colder the EGT becomes. therefore, the difference or actual temp of the EGT is of little consequence, whats more important is they all rise and fall at the same rate, indicating similar mixtures at all 4 cylinders with changes in height and throttle settings.

an excessive induction leak might cause leaning to peak EGT resulting in one climbing faster than the rest, or a lean of peak EGT as it the cylinder suffering the induction leak mixtures get leaner and hence cooler, resulting in a EGT going up, and others down at the same time
