What is the best rpm to aim for on a new 912 ULS Motor? Static and on climb out.

    Hi Nate,

A reasonable static is around 4750-4900 rpm. Static is only needed to get in the ball park for a flight rpm check. Different props will also yield different static rpm's in trying to achieve your final WOT flight rpm.

Once static is set then go fly. Usually around 5000 rpm WOT at take off yields around 5600-5700 WOT in flat and level WOT. That's a pretty good place to be. There are a few special circumstances for your desired WOT setting if you lived at high elevation airfields or fly with floats or tend to fly extremely high all the time.So there can be some special considerations. Maybe you always take off out of a very short field and need a slightly better climb prop over a cruise.

The 5600-5700 rpm should be a fairly well balanced place to be for normal operations. This should give you balance between cruise, climb and fuel economy.

I usually tell people you want that 5600-5700 WOT in flat and level flight at your AVERAGE altitude. Knowing that sometimes you me be flying higher or lower than where you normally live and fly.

    HI Roger,

Do all of the rpm setting that you mentioned apply to the 80hp motor as well as 100hp version of the 912.

Thank you very much for your previous post
