Could there be a mistake re UL vs ULS? I was told this is an 80HP engine, any way to visually inspect whether it is 80 or a 100HP?

What color are the valve covers? (Black or Green??).  (see https://www.rotax-owner.com/en/support-topmenu/technical-information/rotax-engine-specifications )

The factory says that 4425258  is a ULS.  Do you have the engine logbook?  Are you sure you did not misread the serial?

There is perhaps an infinitesimal chance that your engine could have been built up out of recycled parts, and a non-original serial tag was attached - but I think that is highly unlikely...

Turns out the serial number provided to me was read off a book. The engine serial number stamped is: 4404508

Any info/help would be appreciated!
