    At first I did not change the butterfly o-ring as the video suggested to skip under certain circumstances. I went back and performed the o-ring replacement. Also found that the 2-4 carb had the disk in backwards. Corrected and reinstalled carbs, balanced carbs, runs great. I fly an RV-12 which has an unducted opening in the cowl just in front of the #1 cylinder, which must be the cause of the tan staining that I was seeing, a result of taxiing on wet runways. So a happy ending after all. Was trying to repair in time to visit my sister in Pheonix but will have to pick another weekend. I understand the weather there has been great.
