Can a Tempest replace a Rota,x oil filter?

Why would you want to use a non-standard filter when they cost peanuts?

No a Tempest should not be used and now some of these aftermarket filters cost more than Rotax.
The Rotax oil filter is made by Mann in Austria to Rotax specs. There is no replacement in the US. It has a special anti drainback membrane that has been changed due to studies to make them more effective. The have an internal check valve that none of ours have to prevent syphoning and leakage back into the cylinders and a by pass pressure of 18-22 psi while ours is only 13-15 psi.

Bottom line it's better to stick with what was designed for this particular engine and not try to save a couple dollars now that could cost a top end later on.
